Generate Random Starfinder® Names
Select a Starfinder race or ethnicity from the navbar to generate random names. All the major alien races from the Starfinder Core Rulebook are supported.
The Starfinder races published to date have names that are not modeled after any ethnicity or blend of ethnicities in Earth's history. Creating random names that fit in with the examples provided by Paizo meant tailoring the generator around specific syllable and letter combinations. Most of these are seeded from a mixture of earth ethnicities with similar constructs.
The Starfinder sample names don't differentiate between male and female names, nor is their information about surnames. As a result, each of these name generators merely produces a list of names, with no attempt to break them out by gender.
What if I want a human or humanoid name?
To generate a name for humanoid characters, I suggest using the races and ethnicities of your choice from the Pathfinder/Golarion name generator.
How the name generators work
The name generators presented here are based on Markov chains, and construct names that tend to follow the same letter/syllable combinations and distributions as the source names from which they were seeded. Note that these algorithms are not perfect, and you might need to generate several names before settling on one that you like: it is the nature of the Markov chain to occasionally produce silly gibberish, names that do not "fit", or even "real" names. These accidents are part of the fun.

When choosing names that start with a letter or letters, keep the prefixes short. One or two letters work best!

Adjusting these settings can help fine-tune your name list, but if you make them too aggressive you might not get any results at all.
